The Australian and New Zealand Optical Society’s publication is back! In this issue several articles report essential developments and events in the Australian and New Zealand Optics and Photonics community, including the passing of Jim Piper, an article from COMBS (one of  Australia’s Centre of Excellence), updates from two student chapters, and two other updates from prominent people in our community.
