The Australian Conference on

Optical Fibre Technology

The Australian Optical Society runs, typically together with Engineers Australia, the Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology (ACOFT). This is the second longest running photonics conference (after ECOC). It generally now co-locates with other related conferences.

Organisation

Each ACOFT conference has its own organising committees. The ACOFT conference series is governed by a Steering Committee. This committee approves proposals for ACOFT and determines the guidelines for running ACOFT. The ACOFT Steering Committee is chaired by the AOS President, who is the person to contact.

History

An article in AOS News (Vol. 22, No. 2, pp. 9-13, 2008) (link to come) presents the history of the first 33 years, written by John Love (who died in 2016) who championed ACOFT over many years. Some additional historical information is included in an article published in AOS News (Vol. 27, No.4).

The Wanda Henry Prize
