ANZOS Geoff Opat Early Career Researcher Prize is awarded to Dr Rocio Camacho Morales’ (Australian National University) for her research which focuses on nonlinear optical metasurfaces and their application for conversion enhancement and imaging capabilities. Rocio mentored several PhD and honours students, actively supports optical societies (SPIE, OPTICA and ANZOS) and participates regularly in outreach activities. Rocio’s leadership extends beyond academia, and she leads several industrial research projects that aim to translate optical metasurfaces into practical devices. Her work on infrared to visible light conversion by resonant semiconductor metasurfaces has yielded two international patents.
