    Dentroid Technologies (Emudent) is an ambitious high-growth venture that aims to modernise the way dentistry is practiced and empower dentists with automation tools that boosts their precision and productivity. Dentroid was launched in Canberra in 2017 and has since received recognition and support from leading innovation, technology, and business leaders.

    Dentroid is now seeking to hire a highly innovative laser and optical engineer/scientist with strong practical focus and the following skills:

    • A can-do champion and a totally out-of-the-box thinker!
    • Degree qualification in laser physics, photonics or similar discipline
    • 3 or more years of experience
    • Good experience and understanding of optical components, and optical system design
    • Experience in handling, assembling, and aligning laser components such as lenses, mirrors and connectors as a hands-on practitioner
    • Experience in fibre optics evaluation, coupling and maintenance is a plus.
    • Experience in Mid to high-power lasers. Medical or dental application is a plus
    • Desired but not essential: experience in project management, medical or dental devices, robotics, MEMS or mechatronics

    The COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA in collaboration with the University of South Australia and RMIT University have provided a PhD scholarship for a suitable candidate to work on the application of lasers and fibre optics for quantum application. The scholarship includes an attractive $40,000 living allowance plus equipment and conference travel funding. We are seeking high calibre and keen candidates with undergraduate degree in Physics or Engineering (Electrical Engineering). Knowledge of electromagnetic theory, optics and quantum physics are desirable.

    The Australian National University in Canberra, Australia, has recently established a new Centre for Gravitational Astrophysics (CGA), jointly supported by the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics and the Research School of Physics.

    The Centre encompasses all aspects of gravitational wave physics and astrophysics, including instrumentation, theory and data analysis, source follow-up and multi-messenger astronomy. It will bring together existing ANU researchers in these areas under one umbrella and expand the capability by making up to seven new tenure-track academic appointments across these research programs over the next year. The inaugural CGA Director is Professor David McClelland.

    We are now seeking Expressions of Interest for the key appointment of a Full Professor (Level E). It is the intention that the appointee will initially take on the role of Deputy Director, in the anticipation that they will take over as Director within the next five years. We are seeking an inspirational scientific leader with an equity agenda from any area of research covered by the Centre, who can grow ANU’s leadership across all areas of gravitational wave astronomy. If you think you have the skills, vision and drive required to fill this role, please consider applying, regardless of your current level of appointment.

    An Exciting opportunity within the Department of Quantum Science, Research School of Physics, the Australian National University for a Postdoctoral / Research Fellow to develop next-generation automatic three-dimensional volumetric imaging instruments.

    The Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Fellow will be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team to develop next-generation automatic three-dimensional volumetric imaging instruments. This is to map the features embedded within inorganic and organic materials to improve inspection precision, mapping accuracy and speed. The Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Fellow will innovate optical imaging, tomographic and metrology techniques for integration as part of a multimodal approach to scientific instrumentation. The project will in addition involve scientific computing, digital signal processing and mechatronic control as part of the development work.

    The University of Sydney are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) to join a new research initiative within School of Physics. This role specifically will be conducting research into the dynamics of radiation sails that are being propelled by a stationary laser beam, publishing the results of this research in journals and internal reports, and at conferences and other suitable venues. The role will require carrying out scientific research and preparing and presenting scientific results in papers and conferences, co-supervising undergraduate and graduate research students, assisting in the recruitment of research students and continuously working towards attracting new funding. Additionally, you will help to coordinate the research of different researchers.

    Looking for a capable engineer to help set up an optical system consisting of 5 optical components (including light source) for looking at the back of the human eye.

    Experience of working with the eye is ideal. Being located in Sydney an added convenience.

    Please note this project will have the expectation that IP is assigned to the contractor and confidentiality an expectation of the contractee.

    Please include a quote for your services and timeframe required to fulfil these objectives:

    Deliverables include:

    - Accurate ray diagrams based on real and obtainable hardware components.

    - Clear descriptions of the relations and angles each hardware component has to oneanother.

    - Ironing out the problem of reflection off the cornea is a known obstacle requiring a solution.

    - A degree of flexibility around help trouble-shooting as the theoretical model (from the engineer) is fabricated by a designer.

    Both positions will be primarily based at the Callaghan campus in Newcastle and will contribute to teaching postgraduate and undergraduate courses in Physics including large first year classes comprising students from diverse study programs and engage with flexible course delivery modes and innovative teaching practices.

    The focus areas of research interest in the Discipline of Physics include computational and experimental Space Science, Photonics, Nanoscience and Materials Physics, and Medical Science. However candidates coming from any area of Physics will be considered if they complement our existing portfolio and align with the research strategy and capabilities of the University of Newcastle.
